MeanThemes Tools 3.0.0

We’ve just released a major update for MeanThemes Tools, version 3.0.0. If you are upgrading and you use the following themes, please make sure read on, if you’re unfamiliar with updating plugins, scroll down to the “Updating…” section below.

• Color
• Fitly
• Youthy

For the majority of our themes you won’t notice any difference, if you are using Color, Fitly or Youthy you will need to upgrade your theme to the latest version in tandem with updating the MeanThemes Tools plugin. If you do not update both to the latest version, you will lose the ability to edit some parts of your website.

Go over to themeforest.net to your downloads tab and download the latest versions:

• Color: 1.1.1
• Fitly: 1.0.8
• Youthy: 1.0.9

Upload these to your WordPress install.

Then Update the MeanThemes Tools plugin and you’ll be all set.

Behind the scenes of MeanThemes Tools 3.0.0

We’ve marked this release as a major release as we’ve removed the custom meta framework we used to use (CMB). This framework ceased development and whilst it was still stable, we wanted to bring the latest functionality and layouts to our MeanThemes customers. We’ve upgraded the framework to use the new CMB2.

Under the hood, the code for CMB2 is a lot smarter and extensible, from a user point of view it basically looks a lot nicer.

You’ll also get the latest FontAwesome 4.5.0 icons in MeanThemes Tools 3.0.0 as well as a slightly updated MeanThemes Social Widget which now allows the Amazon and Mixcloud icons to use FontAwesome as well.

Updating to MeanThemes Tools 3.0.0

The process couldn’t be simpler, just go to your WordPress install and you should notice an update is waiting for you under “Plugins”

Click “Plugins” and you’ll see MeanThemes Tools 3.0.0 waiting to be updated.

If you don’t, click on “Check for updates”.

Simply click the “update now” link and the update will download and install for you.

This is confirmed by a little green tick.

Then just double check the version is correct

And you’re all done.
